HALLOWEEN is our FAVORITE time of the year.
Come take a HAUNTED HIKE around Cemetery Hill Trail and meander past two 1860's cemeteries. No other farm offers thrills, chills and haunted history like Walnut Grove.
SEASONAL HAUNTINGLY GOOD TIMES:
Walnut Grove Farm was established in 1861 and is located just off Hwy 68 in north Bourbon County, Kentucky. The farm rests on the outskirts of Millersburg. Millersburg is home to nine cemeteries, two of which share borders with the farm. Walnut Grove's owners are offering a chance for you to put on your hiking boots, bring flashlights, ghost detecting equipment and enjoy an authentic, interactive, otherworldly, private, exhilarating & exciting outdoor experience. Some of the town's earliest citizens are quite likely to join us.
Guided hikes are available Sept 25 through November 1, 2025.
Hikes follow Cemetery Hill Trail as it winds through the woods along two of Millersburg's 1860 historic cemeteries.
Both of these cemeteries continue to lay people to rest.
We require respect and courtesy to both the living and the deceased.

About The Farm
Walnut Grove was obtained by the current owners in 2003. They had a dream of creating a sustainable city-farm model, one that preserved green space that was a safe haven for native bluegrass biome species. They incorporated rotational grazing, wildlife preservation and re-introduction of native grasses and blooming species. They have been very proud of their work to preserve monarch habitat as well as providing native plants that feed migratory birds. Unfortunately the farm was nearly destroyed by the state's condemnation through right of eminent domain and the placement of HWY 68 through it diagonally, putting the creek, old growth trees, wildflower and wetlands directly in the path of progress and currently under tons of rock and pavement. This heartbreaking loss almost destroyed the farm and bankrupt the owners. The adverse environmental impact of the construction was present for over a decade. This unfortunate path made it easier to get to Lexington, but destroyed the pulse of Millersburg businesses. The owners have started a second location in Mercer County, Kentucky, hoping to continue protecting the Bluegrass biome by improving the soil, establishing a riparian buffer, preserving native blooming/fruiting and nut producing species in the habitat for migrating species and sharing the land with wildlife, livestock and people. We hope to establish outreach and educational programs to instill a love of the land and teach good animal husbandry of both domestic and wild species to others. We DREAM BIG, but have to start small. One day, we hope to have a community access food plot and cooperative educational garden.
you will share in our vision and come visit the farm once we can get the gates open.
Educational Outreach
LEARNING through ART
HANDS ON EVENTS.
In these weekly events, you will get to paint, build, dig, draw, plant, pick and play while information is shared. Each event hopes to ignite a creativity and passion for other species, each other and our future. We hope to help others gain a new perspective.
EDUCATIONAL HIKES
These hour long hikes are not only meant to get your blood pumping, but to get your mind churning. You will get to learn to identify the species around you, see hoe they change throughout the season and understand how they all rely upon each other. You may get to pick some blooms, collect some nuts or berries or snap some amazing shots of wildlife and farm life.
FARM & GARDEN COURSES
Participants of these hour long sessions will learn about biosecurity and understand how getting your hands dirty also means washing up! They may get to assist in composting, neonatal care of livestock, collection of seeds, fruits and nuts, honeybee habitat construction, gardening and numerous other endeavors. Dress accordingly! MUCK BOOTS are needed for livestock activities, as biosecurity matters.

More about Walnut Grove Farm
Farm History
Walnut Grove Farm's owners are dedicated to breaking the chemical dependency, sharing their working space with the wildlife and native species that were here long before us. They understand the changing environment means agricultural practices must evolve. Farms struggle to survive all across our nation. The owners have decided to share their practices and what they hope to achieve with the public. They want to encourage people to come out and get their hands dirty. A second farm has been purchased near Shakertown that brings into focus the negative effects of runoff, exhaustive agricultural practices and non-regenerative land management. There will be workshops, educational and interactive events as well as outreach programs geared towards the younger generations in the near future. In the meantime, the owners have long known the original farm's paranormal activity & have agreed to let the public share in these experiences. You are truly never alone on the Paris property. The original home was razed by previous owners in 1986 due to the extreme level of activity. The flowers still bloom every spring around the foundation of that 1787 home. Sadly, nothing but the cistern & bricked walks remain. The original farm consisted of 212 acres, today only 44+ acres remain intact. The recent Highway 68 construction bypassed Millersburg & sliced diagonally through the 97acres of the farm. This construction has seemingly disrupted the peaceful rest of some of Millersburg’s oldest residents.
A gas station is located less than 0.2 mile from the farm. Mustardseed Hill & Main Street Parking are available adjacent to the Farm. Off street parking on Walnut Grove’s property is available if the ground is dry. Walnut Grove Farm is not responsible for possessed, haunted, lost, stolen, vandalized, damaged or stuck vehicles, nor are they responsible for driving into sinkholes or the pond. Walnut Grove promises we will do our very best to ensure that no Skulduggery or tomfoolery befalls you!!
Your safety is important to us!
\We want EVERY GUEST to make it out alive!!

Meet Our Ghosts
Who are the residents everyone comes to encounter? Over the 22 years the family has been on the farm, there are some energies that have made their presence known. Some nights are more active than others.
WHO THEY ARE:
The Quiet Little One: appears to be about 5-6, if it's quiet or the coyotes are out, he will sometimes try to hold your hand or tug at your shirt. He is shy, often tags along for barn chores, seems curious about what is in your pockets.
The Twins: These two seem to be 8 or 9, the most likely ones you'll SEE, tan pants, white shirts, always beyond arm's reach. They are curious, always together and laugh a lot. They don't really bother folks but they sure do enjoy when you slip, stumble, hammer your thumb while fixing fences or drop something. You'll catch them giggling. You may even catch a glimpse of them laughing before they dash away!
The Victorian Widow: this lady dressed in black is one of the most visible and regular entities we see. She never leaves the cemetery. She slowly moves back-and-forth between two large stones. Long black dress & veil of Victorian style. On nights with heavy fog you can hear her softly sobbing.
The Sailor: This big energy is one of the more intimidating energies. He's never done anything physically to anyone, but his presence is often abrupt, stark & startling. Woolen hat, pea coat, arms crossed, he seems stern, displeased & defensive. Best to be polite & say yes sir when he shows up. He seems to wander the farm more than others
The Observer: (The watcher/creeper) This one is always in the woods, watching. He makes the owner uneasy & she won't go in the woods alone after dusk because of this one. At first you see the dark silhouette leaning against a tree ~30-40' away, then you see it in a different location ~20' away... and it keeps creeping closer. This one enjoys making you feel uneasy. Ignoring it doesn't make it go away. STAY ON the TRAIL and with a Buddy.
The Prankster: This energy is one that manifests physically. It likes to turn barn lights on, lock barn doors when you're inside the barn, close and latch the tack room door behind you. It once startled party goers by turning on all the headlights of 20+ cars at one time. 1980's Hondas & Fords to 2000's BMWs & Chevies... ALL HEAD LIGHTS ON AT ONCE. the party fell silent as we sat around the fire contemplating who was walking up the hill to turn off the old vehichle headlights manually. Many partygoers have not since returned to the farm. This one seems to like electronics. It will play with your flashlight, your cell phone and other recording devices. When it decides to come out and play, everybody's going to know it's here.
The Whisperer: this one doesn't like to be seen but likes to be heard. He whispers, faintly but clear as a bell: "What are you doing?" "Why are you here?" among other questions. Do not talk back to this one. Never talk back. It sometimes sounds as if it is standing right behind you... or less than a few feet away. Of all those who have heard him, he never seems to set off emf meters. The owners thought there was an actual person in the woods, the dogs act as if they hear it too... hackles up & on alert... This one might not be as sociable as the others.
The Pitcher : this one loves to toss walnuts, pebbles, Osage oranges and other small items at you. No one has been hit by the FIRST few tosses. When it starts tossing things, the items usually land near the trail and may roll toward you. WATCH YOUR STEP. Sometimes a few items and sometimes it's dozens. DO NOT toss anything back. It's ok to talk to this one, but don't play toss! You WILL LOSE this game, be aware you can't CATCH items hurled at you in the dark & the next tosses are more forceful. The dogs have been hit & it is UNPLESANT.
DO NOT ENGAGE IN THIS GAME of TOSS.
The Follower: this one loves to mock you. It follows behind you, just ever so slightly out of step with you… It likes to snap twigs and crunch leaves on the trail just behind you. It wanders the farm, it enjoys scuffling through rocks gravel and tall grass behind you it's one that is frequently day active. The dogs notice it but don't act alarmed. The cows, sheep and horses often look at it just behind you. No person has reported seeing it. Many people tell the owner: I thought you were right behind me on the way up to the barn... shocked when they see her doing something at the bottom of the lane.
The Jokester: this energy likes to rearrange things. If you twist your bike lock & leave it, when you return to unlock it, you may discover it rearranged the letters to spell words like bald, butt and fart... it likes to move keys, shoes, phones and other small items. Many times the cat gets blamed, but the cat doesn't play with toys, let alone human items. If you place loose change on the dresser, this one like to flip them all to heads or tails... it turns on electric candles in the middle of the night, takes Christmas ornaments off of trees and occasionally opens the windows upstairs.
The Scary One : this one is the only one that seems threatening. It is associated more with the house & barn. It likes to stomp through the loft/attic, slam doors, rattle shutters & windows. Occasionally you see a very dark figure standing in doorways, at the top of the stairs or in the loft. Dark is an understatement. It is not just a shadow or outline like the others. It is doubtful this one will show up on the trail or in the fields. If it does, divert your eyes and go about your business do not act phased. Do NOT stare at it. It shows off if you watch. It is the most menacing of the entities. When it shows up, it's here for extended periods, weeks to months… you won't see any of the other entities for a few days before or after it shows. I don't think the other energies like this one. The owner says the dogs intentionally ignore this energy but often flinch when the noise gets too much. The dogs get clingy and don't want to be in the barn when it's around.
Private Guided Ghost Hikes
Walnut Grove Farm is offering Ghost Hikes to the public for the first time ever. This property is very active. Unfortunately the original 1787 home is no loger standing but it seems some of the residents have not moved on. This property, like many others utilized slave labor & other homes in this area were part of the Underground Railroad. The farm borders the integrated and old segregated cemeteries, both est. in the 1860's
